Lets save Superboy! A review of Teen Titans #7

So things have not been going well for the Titans. Between being at odds which each other, getting beat up by Superboy, and Kid Flash almost dying things have been rough. But this issue they plan to sit back, relax, and break into N.O.W.H.E.R.E. to save Superboy.

Post contains spoilers

So like I said, it is time to save Superboy. Now I haven’t read Superboy’s solo title, which from what I understand ties into Teen Titans a little bit. But from only reading Teen Titans, Superboy started to question N.O.W.H.E.R.E. after his last fight with the Titans. Now When Superboy questioned N.O.W.H.E.R.E. things did not go well for him. They are now performing a live autopsy on his to learn what they can from him when they remake him. This is until one of my favorite heroes, Kid Flash shows up. Now it doesn’t take long for Director Centerhall to find out what is up. But Kid Flash is not alone! Bunker and Skitter join the fight to save Superboy!

Now lets jump back and find out how the team got there. While Red Robin and Kid Flash were out testing Kid Flash’s new suit and making sure his powers are still all working. Things were going good until they find themselves on a completely different street. It turns out that Red Robin has a man on the inside. If you remember back a few issues Kid Flash was talking to a guy named Danny while in N.O.W.H.E.R.E. He is also the one who brought Kid Flash and Solstice to Red Robin in the first place. Now Danny the Street knows not to break cover, but he has a message for them. The street becomes full of red S’s. It doesn’t take Red Robin long to put two and two together, N.O.W.H.E.R.E. plans to do away with Superboy.

Back at Red Robin’s Perch, the team gets together to talk about saving Superboy. Now it is no secret that the Titans and Superboy don’t get along. So the team doesn’t jump on board at first. I can’t say I blame them, last time they saw Superboy he almost killed a few of them. When it becomes clear that the team doesn’t want to go, Red Robin heads out on his own. Cassie is the first one out the door, followed by Kid Flash, Bunker, and Skitter, while Solstice right behind them. Now this is important because they came out at different places when they came through Danny’s door.

Jumping back tot he present, Kid Flash is having some trouble. He has a quick vision of a group of people beating another. At first he thinks it is someone elses mind in his head. But he comes to realize it is his own. Unsure of what just happened and whether it was real or fake, he jumps back into the fight. Kid Flash runs to Superboy and frees him, but he is still weak. It is up to Bunker and Skitter to clear out the bad guys and the four of them head to meet up with the others.

Elsewhere Cassie is having her own little adventure. She finds herself talking to a man named Zaniel Templar. Now this guy doesn’t play nice, but Cassie is a tough girl. Zaniel also has a pretty creepy power, his insides are composed of ravenous parasites. It gives a whole new definition to tentacle monster. But like I said, Cassie can handle herself. It also turns out that the Lariat can siphon life essence. Meanwhile Red Robin and Solstice have a little chat. While the others were fighting, Red Robin was hacking some of N.O.W.H.E.R.E.’s computers. When Solstice questions him, she is turned away like a child, this doesn’t sit well with her. Red Robin suspected that N.O.W.H.E.R.E. was taken kids, he was gathering data to confirm his thoughts and build a case. As one of those kids, this greatly upsets Solstice, if he knew then why did Red Robin do nothing for her? Red Robin, does not apologize for it, he did what he had to.

Kid Flash, Bunker, Skitter, and Superboy find themselves in Danny’s hallway and after Cassie shows up, they start to question where Red Robin and Solstice could be. As Red Robin comes out of nowhere screaming for them to go, the team chooses it will sit and wait for Solstice, they all get out or no one does. This is a fine plan but something they did not think about happens. The creator of N.O.W.H.E.R.E. has shown himself. Harvest is here to welcome the Titans to the Colony!

Dun Dun DUN! So here you have it, another fantastic issue from Teen Titans. Now Cassie had another fight set before this issue, so if you want some more Cassie action, check it out in Superboy #8(Out next month) Also something I noticed as I read this issue a second time, Red Robin, Cassie, Kid Flash, and Bunker all have a “T” on their right shoulder. Like I always say, I love when a team becomes a team! Also when Harvest(Who looks super badass by the way) jumps the team his says all eight of them. Red Robin-1 Kid Flash-2 Cassie-3 Bunker-4 Skitter-5 Solstice-6 Superboy-7 So does that make Danny #8? We didn’t know about Danny being apart of the team until now, it is possible that N.O.W.H.E.R.E. knew? Also I am pretty sure I read that Static Shock would be joining the team later down the line. I could be wrong on that. Just some thoughts.

But like I said, it is another great issue. I strongly recommend Teen Titans. It never lets me down.

  1. Generation X was my favourite series, and, when Marvel closed it, it was one of my biggest pains as a comics reader. That makes you understand how much I love Lobdell. That’s why I was so sorry when I read a lot of negative reviews about his New 52 works. I ordered Teen Titans # 7 to clarify whether he had lost his magic touch. I breathed a sigh of relief: he’s still a very good writer. Anyway, I must admit that his New 52 works have a lot of flaws. For example, in Teen Titans # 7 there are too many dialogues, and a villain who was so obviously a Dr. Octopus clone. Let’s say that he’s not a perfect writer anymore, but he still manages to entertain his readers.
