Need more of this: A review of FF#17

Now something Drew, Karan, and I talk about often is how it is fun to see superheroes do everyday things like living together. Now like two weeks ago I told Drew I think it would be funny if Deadpool had to move in with Spider-man. This week, Marvel gives us an FF issue were Johnny Storm(Human Torch) is living with Peter.

Now when the issue starts, Johnny has already been living there for three weeks and it has started to take a toll on Peter. Today is the day, he needs to kick Johnny out. Peter is just getting ready for work when he calls that Manhattan Trust is under attack. As Peter runs out to save the day, Johnny explains he was just playing. Oh also Johnny is cooking breakfast in nothing but his underwear and apron.

As Peter goes to get his jacket, he realizes that his closest is no longer closest. He soon finds himself in the Negative Zone and under attack until Johnny comes and gets him. Now understandable, Peter flips out over this. I guess Reed put a door into the Negative Zone in a few days ago and Johnny forgot to tell Peter. Already completed stressed, Peter heads off to work.

At work Peter is in the middle of his big presentation when he gets a call on his emergency number from Johnny. Turns out the world is not in danger, Johnny just wanted to tell him that he is going to have a party and they need more drinks and such. Peter flips again, he can not believe that Johnny would call him at work and the emergency line for drinks and snacks pick up.

After work Peter goes out in the rain to get drinks and snacks and when he gets home he does not find a little party but a crazy going on. Also most of the guests are aliens. Johnny has just lost a card game and since Peter is his roommate he must also pay the price. The two must take a shot of  the Sun Mare’s milk, how bad can it be? The rest of the night becomes a blur including: Driving around New York, fighting at a bar, Johnny hitting on a cop with peter passed out on the ground, and Peter possibly hooking up with some blue chick.

When he wakes up in the morning, he starts to think having Johnny around isn’t all that bad. He tries to keep an open mind and just take a shower and walk it all off. But as he enters the bathroom he storms back out and gives Johnny a piece of his mind. Peter tells him that he can not do this anymore and Johnny just doesn’t see the problem. He takes Johnny to the bathroom where they find a little alien guy using the toilet. Johnny agrees after that he needs to leave.

See issues like these are amazing. It is nice to see people with superpowers just doing everyday things. That is why things like the episode of Smallville were they all get drunk is great or the webcomic Little Leaguers is great. Just doing everyday things. Like turn in next month where Kyle has to take Saint Walker grocery shopping with him! Out of toilet paper? All will be well!
