Episode II: Attack of the Clones

I will be honest, Episode II is probably my least favorite Star Wars movie. That does not mean it is pure garbage. However, I would recommend more extensive rewrites than I did for Episode I.

Saving Star Wars

I decided to write a couple of posts for Star Wars Day. I was having a conversation earlier this week about movies in general and the idea was brought up that people are just so hypercritical these days.  Don’t get me wrong, I like to nitpick movies and Cinemasins is one of my favorite YouTube channels.  What I mean by hypercritical is that many people see movies as great or terrible with no in between. I can like things about a movie without liking the movie as a whole, just I can dislike things about a movie but like the overall movie. There are movies that I love and will re-watch over and over again. Does that mean they are perfect? No, no movie is perfect. Every movie has some flaws or plot holes.  So, since it is Star Wars Day, I thought I would highlight things I liked about the individual movies, and some things that I think would have made them better.

Been away for so long

Posted in Not a Review with tags , , on February 2, 2014 by skychaserr

Hi guys, it is me again! Drew and I have been talking back and forth for a few months on how we are going to make our come back. As I have said before a number of times, we love doing what we do on here. It just seemed that 2013 was not the year for reviews. I was just looking at our numbers and January of this year was an all time low for the site. We haven’t been posting as much as we should.

Now I know what some of you might  be thinking, “James, you have said you were back before and you left again. I just don’t know if my heart can handle that kind of hurt again.” And I agree with you. I wasn’t going to post anything like this and just jump right back into reviews but that just didn’t feel right. I am hoping that starting this week and moving forward Drew and I can turn this back into something amazing. Maybe I can even get Karan to start joining us again. I have a lot of plans for 2014 and I just hope I will be able to share them all with you.

I will have a couple of recap posts coming up today and tomorrow and real reviews coming starting back on Tuesday and Wednesday. I was talking with Drew and he said he will try to get something up in the next few days and start reviewing again in the next couple of weeks. So what I am really trying to say is if you like our stuff or found your way here. Welcome! We hope you like what we do because we are going to keep doing it anyways!

Villains Month

Posted in Not a Review with tags , , , , , , on September 7, 2013 by murthareviews

Last year on the first anniversary of the New 52 DC Comics released Zero issues for all of it’s current books. Each focusing on the past or origin of the title character(s). For the second anniversary they are having Villains Month. This month instead of the regular issues they are releasing 52 issues, each focusing on a different villain.

Some are well known, Joker, Doomsday, Black Hand. Others are fairly new to the New 52, Joker’s Daughter, Relic and The Ventriloquist. This also coincides with the Forever Evil crossover event. Many of the villains featured in the crossover have their own issues.

The Zero issues were good, but overall weren’t great. They did contain a fair amount of information, but they still left major gaps in a lot of heroes histories. So far the Villains month issues are pretty good. I will be trying to review as many as I can.

I promise

I will be writing reviews tomorrow. I’ll at least cover Justice League, New Guardians ans the Flashpoint movie.

I know that between James and myself we have only written 3 reviews over the past two weeks. I am dedicating today to catching up. That means I am planning on writing at least 7 reviews today. I may not be able to do reviews much this summer due to traveling for work(training and what not I won’t bore you with the details). After I catch up today I will try to get my reviews up in a more timely manner.

James and I have talked about the season finales for Supernatural and Doctor Who, I expect he will work on those soon(wink, wink). Thanks for understanding and thanks for reading.

I’ll be back

I have to go out of town next month, for work reasons. I am not going to have my laptop or likely any internet access. Once I come back, I am going to do my best to get back into the swing of things. I am going to get up a few more reviews this weekend, including a review of the new G.I. Joe movie. By the time I get back it will almost be time for the summer movie season.

Thanks for reading.

Life and stuff

I know I only posted the video game reviews for last week. My goal is to go ahead and post the reviews for this week over the next couple of days and then make up last weeks reviews over the weekend(time permitting). Thanks for understanding and thanks for reading.

I will be back!

Sadly due to some family stuff, I won’t be around this weekend to get most of my writing done. It is a real shame because a lot of great books came out this week. However, when I come back on Tuesday I will do my best to get my favorites of this week reviewed and posted.

I picked up these books this week,

  • Aquaman
  • Bat Inc.
  • Justice League Dark
  • Red Lanterns
  • Teen Titans
  • Flash
  • Hawkman
  • Deadpool Killustrated
  • Young Avengers
  • Uncanny X-Men
  • Thunderbolts
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • Uncanny Avengers
  • Avenging Spider-Man

All fantastic books. Avenging Spider-Man is starting to lose me but that is mostly because I hate what they have done with Spider-Man.

Anyways, I hope you guys have had a wonderful week and enjoy your weekend. Drew will be around, I am not sure if he still has stuff to post. I will be back Tuesday and I will do my best to get some reviews up when I get home. As always, thank you for your continued support of Murtha Reviews. We love you all.
